At the beginning of March, the SMV organized an entertaining talent show that showcased the diversity and creativity of students from different schools in Addis Ababa. The event provided a stage for jugglers, artists, singers, actors and many other talents. Especially during the breaks, the students of the German Embassy School Addis Ababa (黑料社) created enthusiasm and an exuberant atmosphere during the open mic sessions. The audience was treated to delicious food and the sunny weather contributed to the pleasant atmosphere. In addition to the talent show, there were also numerous activities for the younger guests, making the day an all-round successful experience. Third place went to Nati, a talented singer who impressed the audience with a song he had written himself.Overall, the Talent Show was a complete success and a wonderful example of the creativity and commitment of the students in Addis Ababa and the organizational skills of the SMV.
This colorful event was duly celebrated with imaginative costumes, music and numerous games. The children arrived at school in the morning full of anticipation in their lovingly designed costumes. From princesses to pirates to superheroes – the variety of costumes was impressive. In kindergarten, the children were even allowed to come dressed up on two days and therefore had twice the fun. The delicious carnival doughnuts, which are traditionally eaten at carnival in Germany, were also a must. Beaming faces and smiling children made it clear: the carnival celebrations at the German Embassy School were a complete success!
Creative programming has been successful! A media skills project sponsored by the ZfA on the subject of 鈥淩obotics / Programming with Scratch鈥 has taken place. 16 students from grade 5 to 7 took part. As part of their CAS project, three grade 11 students supported and motivated our young programmers to write, design and program their own concepts for small computer games. Here is an insight into their work and the final event at the end of the project week:
The annual sports festival of the secondary school of the German Embassy School Addis Ababa took place on Saturday, 15.02.25 under a bright blue sky.The students competed against each other in various disciplines and showed off their sporting skills. The sports festival offered a wide range of competitions, including classic athletics disciplines such as sprinting, long jump and shot put. The parents’ council provided healthy refreshments with homemade sandwiches, fruit skewers and yogurts. This meant that the students were not only able to take part in sporting activities, but also fortify themselves with nutritious food. A few days later, the winners received their certificates at an official award ceremony in front of a large part of the school community.
A new barefoot path was inaugurated with great joy and enthusiasm at the kindergarten of the German Embassy School in Addis Ababa. This special project enables the children to feel different natural materials under their feet and thus train their sensory perception in a playful way. The barefoot path consists of different surfaces such as sand, gravel, wood or grass and not only offers the children an exciting experience, but also promotes their motor skills and connection to nature. The barefoot path is a sustainable and educational element in everyday kindergarten life and will offer the children a variety of sensory experiences in the long term.
